FOSBR CALLS ON ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES TO REPRESENT THE ELECTORATE

Cancellations on the Severn Beach line peaked on Sunday 8 June with three round trips from Temple Meads to Avonmouth between from 12.35 to 15.20 (see chart below provided by Save the Train Campaign).  Sunday 8 June was publicised by FGW as a day of free travel.

Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways (FOSBR) welcomed the support of Councillor Mark Bradshaw, Helen Holland, (Labour), Jon Rogers, Lib Dem, Peter Abrahams (Cons) and Stephen Williams MP at the Severnside Community Rail Partnership launch of the Sunday service at Clifton Down Station on Sunday 1 June.  We now call on each of them to condemn the cancellations on Sunday 8 June and urge them to call on central government and the other agencies to consider a strategy for ensuring that local rail delivers the service in the published timetable.   FOSBR will publish the names of each councillor and their strategy on our website www.fosbr.org.uk.  We will urge Bristol City Council to do likewise.

FOSBR urges Members of Parliament and local councillors to remember that they are elected to represent us and influence local and central government policy.  The FOSBR Half Hour Train Campaign is an example of successful collective action.
